Fun with Puzzles!!!

We've been diving deeper into laser CNC technology, and our latest project has been both rewarding and eye-opening. Our youngest daughter, who is autistic, has a passion for pumpkins and umbrellas, while our youngest son is absolutely captivated by elephants, giraffes, toads, and—his favorite—"zeebwas." So naturally, we decided to create custom puzzles for each of them.

What we thought would be a straightforward process turned out to be far more intricate than we anticipated. Laser cutting is incredibly precise, which means even the tiniest imperfection—a small dimple or stray pixel—can compromise how the puzzle pieces fit together. Beyond the technical cuts themselves, we had to carefully consider piece size, shape, and how each element interlocks with the others. The design phase alone required serious problem-solving and planning.

The learning curve was steep. Our daughter's puzzle went through four iterations before we got it just right, and our son's required two rounds of refinement. Each version taught us something new about the balance between artistic vision and functional design.
