Here’s the polished version of the story:

We spent months carefully developing a new wood finish. Every ingredient measured. Every result documented. Nothing left to chance.

Then one batch failed.

Spectacularly? No. That would’ve at least been entertaining. It simply refused to become the product we intended.

But it was trying very hard to become something else.

Instead of tossing it aside and pretending the whole thing never happened, we paid attention. That wrong turn became the starting point for RESURGO—our new maintenance butter for finished wood.

Sometimes the mistake knows where it’s going before you do.

Why Bother

Cutting boards get cut. Bowls get handled. Boxes get opened. Good wood collects scratches, stories, and the occasional questionable kitchen decision.

Eventually, the surface starts looking dry or dull.

That doesn’t mean the piece is finished. It means it’s ready for a little attention.

RESURGO is a hand-poured, food-safe maintenance topcoat that soaks in, protects the wood, and restores a soft, even sheen. Apply a thin coat, let it rest for 10–15 minutes, then buff away the excess.

What’s Inside

Inside each tin is a blend of refined coconut oil, beeswax, carnauba wax, rice bran wax, and vitamin E.

What isn’t inside?

No mineral oil. No distillates. No petroleum derivatives. Ever.

Apparently, caring for a cutting board doesn’t require squeezing anything out of a dead brontosaurus. Who knew?

Fine Print, Briefly

RESURGO is a maintenance topcoat—not a primary finish for bare wood. Apply it over a compatible, fully cured base finish. We recommend additive-free polymerized linseed oil or tung oil when naturally sourced options are preferred.

Compatibility hasn’t been established with polyurethane, polycrylic, or other film-forming finishes. Test first in an inconspicuous area. We make wood butter, not reckless promises.

RESURGO exists because failure doesn’t always mean stop.

Sometimes it means look closer.

The same goes for the wooden pieces we use every day. A dry surface, a few scratches, and some honest wear aren’t reasons to replace good work. They’re proof that it mattered enough to use.
