Most wooden soap dishes are just a flat board with delusions of grandeur. Your soap sits in its own puddle, goes soft, and dissolves into a sad amoeba by Thursday.

This one has rails. Cherry ridges standing proud of black walnut valleys — each strip shaped first, then glued up, so the bar sits high and the water runs out from under it. It's the difference between a soap dish and a soap coffin.  Better yet, the little rubber feet on the bottom keep water and soap from collecting around the holder's bottom!  Because clean bottoms are a MUST when it comes to bathrooms!

Two species, no stain, no dye. The cherry runs warm and light, the walnut dark underneath it, and the whole thing reads as stripes because that's exactly what it is.

Finished in a naturally-sourced, food-safe hardwax oil that actually stands up to water — not a wax that hazes the first time it gets wet. We learned that one the hard way so you don't have to.
